Step 1 Choose Your Location
Chose your location......you may
want it out of sight such as in a closet. Or in an area of the house
where it can be covered by a painting or picture. It must be installed
in a 2" x 4" or thicker framed wall. It is important to check for any
plumbing or electrical wires in the area where you chose to install your
safe. Also make sure there is clearance for the door to swing open. The
safe is 14" wide and is designed to fit between standard 16 inch center
-to-center wall framing. If you are in an older or
unusual home please read this article
How to Install a Wall Safe In Difficult
Situations (old home, etc)
Step 2 Cutout Wall
A. Choose the stud which will be
at the right hand side of your wall safe (hinge side). Drill or cut a
large enough pilot hole to determine where the inside edge of this stud
is locate.
B. Use a building square and draw
a vertical pencil line 21 1/8" long - along the inside edge of the stud.
This will locate the placement of the right hand "hinged" side of the
safe.
C. From the top of the line you
scribed in step (B), measure 14 inches to the left and make a pencil
mark. Repeat this measurement at the bottom of the vertical line. With
the building square, draw a vertical line between the pencil marks
locating the left side of the safe.
D. With the building square, draw
a horizontal line at the top of the 21 1/8" measurement joinging
the two vertical lines. Repeat this action at the bottom. You should now
have a 14" x 21 1/8" rectangle scribed on the wall between studs.
E. With a saber saw or equivalent
tool, starting with the pilot hole, cut along the pencil lines and
remove the wall section. Caution: with a flashlight look through the
pilot hole again and check again that there are no electrical wires or
plumbing in the cut out area you are about to cut.
Step 3 Install Safe
A. Place your wall safe through
cutout rectangle in the wall. Make sure the hinge side of the safe is
flush against the right hand stud and the front flange is flat against
the wall. With the safe door open, extend the telescoping back by
pushing it from the inside until maximum possible depth is achieved.
B. With the safe door still open,
and back extended, install six wood screws (included) through) holes in
right hand side of safe and into the stud. Tighten the safe flush to the
stud. Do not over tighten the screws.
C. Note: There may be a light
amount of space between the safe side wall and the left hand stud. This
is normal. The right hand hinged side of your safe, however, must be
tightened flush to the right hand stud.
